For Uganda African Safari Company, your safety and well-being are our top priorities. Uganda is generally considered a safe destination for travelers; however, like any international travel, it requires some precaution and awareness of local conditions. We recommend keeping up-to-date with travel advisories from official sources such as your government’s travel advisory website.
While the US rates Uganda at a higher risk, we would like to tell you why we think this is over-generalized. Since the October 2023 attack, all National Parks now have military personnel patrolling the areas adjacent to the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is also true that Uganda is anti-LGBTQUIA due to high religiosity within the culture. We as a company are inclusive and accepting but would encourage you to not engage in public displays of affection. We only travel during the day. All lodges with who we collaborate have private security. And, your guide is with you at all times and stays near your lodge should there be a crisis or emergency. Uganda is known for its friendly people and stability in many tourist areas, especially popular destinations like national parks, the capital city Kampala, and the shores of Lake Victoria. It's always wise to exercise common travel safety practices such as avoiding isolated areas at night, keeping an eye on personal belongings, and using reputable tour operators. Our tours are designed with your safety in mind, including carefully vetted accommodations, experienced guides, and well-planned itineraries. We also offer 24/7 support during your trip to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience. If you have any specific concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our customer service team before booking your trip.

Yes. In order to apply for a travel visa, you will need to 1) book your airline ticket, 2) have received your yellow fever vaccine, 3) have a valid passport and 4) have a point of contact within the country (which will be us). Do not apply for your visa until you have a PDF copy of these 4 items that you can upload to the website.
The cost for the visa is $50 plus a small processing fee. You will receive an email once your visa has been processed. Data and internet at the airport is not good and it can be challenging to check your email, so download a digital version you can easily access and bring a paper copy with you as well!

Yes, it is highly recommended to purchase travel insurance to cover anything that might occur during your trip booked through Uganda African Safari Company. Travel insurance provides a safety net that can protect you from various unexpected situations that may arise before or during your travels. This can include trip cancellations, medical emergencies, lost luggage, flight delays, and more. Given the unpredictability of travel, having an insurance policy ensures that you have financial and logistical support in case things don't go as planned. By obtaining travel insurance, you can travel with peace of mind, knowing that you are covered against many common travel risks.
The most common language spoken in Uganda is Luganda, although English is also widely used and serves as the country's official language. At Uganda African Safari Company, we understand the importance of effective communication when traveling. To ensure our clients have a seamless and enjoyable experience, we provide multilingual guides who are fluent in both Luganda and English. Additionally, our travel documents and itineraries are available in English. Our team is committed to helping you navigate Uganda with confidence, making your travel experience both comfortable and memorable.
If you aren't fluent in English and need an interpreter, we can arrange an interpreter that is with you for the entirety of your trip. There will be an additional cost for an interpreter, so contact us if you need this accommodation.
It's totally ok to speak in English and many younger Ugandans are proud to be able to communicate with you in English. Most schools now require their students to be proficient in English. Uganda has many languages, but Luganda is the most common language if you would like to learn a few words to speak.
